Dr. Aaker went to Baylor College of Medicine on a full-tuition academic Presidential Scholarship after graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude with a physics degree from UCI. After finishing his medical school, Dr. Aaker was selected to attend the prestigious University of Rochester for his ophthalmology residency. During his ophthalmology training Dr. Aaker received both patient care and research awards. He performed advanced research on optics and presented his research at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Aaker also scored a 99 percentile on his Ophthalmology Knowledge Assessment test which still stands as the highest score in his training program. He was selected to do a fellowship in Refractive surgery, Cornea and External disease of the eye at Washington University in St. Louis, one of the best medical schools in the country and routinely ranked in the top 10 research medical schools. Dr. Aaker has published in major journals and ophthalmology texts.
Once he had finished all of his training, he joined the faculty at Texas A&M College of Medicine and he was the Director of Cornea & External Disease for their residency program. He took care of referral cornea cases, general ophthalmology, and trained student doctors. He went on to join the Eye Research Foundation where he participated in many clinical studies on dry eye, cataract surgery, and glaucoma. Dr. Aaker and his family started the practice in 2016 and now focuses exclusively on cataract surgery and lens replacement surgery.
When not working, he spends time with his wife, a graduate of Rice University, and their four children. Both Dr. Aaker and his wife are also avid pickleball player. Dr. Aaker is a member of the Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Christian Ophthalmology Society.
